The leading Infant swimming school in the UK, Water Babies recently announced its expansion plans that includes opening four new swim centres in the UK and crossing the channel to Germany and China in 2018. Last year alone, Water Babies franchise business model that relies primarily on hiring pool space, exceeded the 50,000-weekly client base mark.
Based in Devon, Water Babies is now planning on building and operating its own premium facilities where it will offer Water Babies lessons and aquanatal classes from its sister company WaterBumps.
The infant swimming school franchise has partnered with the Italian firm, that built pools for the Olympic Games, World Championships and Commonwealth Games – Myrtha Pools. Water Babies managing director, Steve Franks, said: “This is a game-changing development for Water Babies and the infant swimming industry.”

Water Babies has bought land to build centres in China – in Shenzhen and Zhuhai – and in Stirling, Scotland and Munster, Germany. In addition, Water Babies will soon be opening centres near existing facilities in West Country base in Honiton, in Exeter and Bristol. Co-founded by Paul Thompson in 2002, Water Babies has taught babies to swim throughout a network of 76 franchise outlets and over 600 teachers throughout the UK, Ireland, Canada, the Netherlands, New Zealand and China.
