Trulawn’s franchisor has described the process of franchising his business and how it’s performing during a turbulent year.

Ian Parry spoke to Point Franchise about his experience of developing his artificial grass business and turning it into a thriving management franchise. He believes he can offer a far superior investment opportunity compared to other industry players. He explained,

“Whilst there are other companies who offer ‘franchises’ in artificial grass – these are often aimed at individuals who are already in the industry, who already are running a landscaping company, who already have the tools… As such, the value of the package is very limited.

“We are offering the complete package of training, support and mentoring along with all the equipment, tools and marketing materials, coupled with a large exclusive territory.”

When the Covid-19 pandemic hit the UK, Ian was just in the process of appointing his first few franchisees.

“The business had to quickly adapt, implement new methods and technologies and swiftly instil confidence back in its customers. Once the company learnt how to keep its employees safe and ensure there was no danger to their customers, it was in a very strong position to proceed.”

After making changes, franchisees were even able to exceed their targets.

“Despite all the challenges Trulawn franchisees faced, due to their flexibility, hard work and ability to adapt, they have managed to hit the longstanding targets they had set for the year. In fact, they have actually managed to achieve an increase or growth in nearly every aspect of the business in 2020 over 2019.”

Now, Trulawn benefits from high levels of customer demand. Ian said,

“Digital media, social media, review sites, trust-a-trader-type web portals, have all helped to bring awareness of the product to a peak. In order to adapt, you have to keep up and join in with all the latest technologies, show complete transparency and honesty. Have a great product that people love and are willing to tell others about.”

So, what’s next for the growing franchise? Ian has plans to cover the whole of the UK and Ireland through its franchise network.
