A Driver Hire Franchisee has been nominated at the 2019 BFA HSBC awards for his incredible business transformation.

Business franchise Driver Hire has been celebrating one of its top franchisees Ed Pockney, who has made the finals of the prestigious BFA HSBC Franchise Awards 2019 in the ‘Business Transformation’ category.

In just five years, Pockney has transformed the fortunes of the Uxbridge branch he purchased and is now ranked as one of the top 20 performing franchisees in the Driver Hire network, which is testament to his incredible hard work and commitment. Since buying the branch, he has managed to generate an annual turnover in excess of £1.5 million and has his sights set on becoming one of the franchise’s top five this year.

He also picked up an award for internal training at Driver Hire’s Winter Conference and has utilised his almost 30 years working in finance across the globe to make his business a success. Pockney will now be questioned by the judging panel and will find out if he has done enough to walk away with the title at the gala dinner in June.

Pockney thanked his fantastic team and dedicated franchisor for making the nomination possible.

“Whilst it’s my name on the nomination, this award is all about the hard working, motivated and highly diligent five-person team I work alongside. And, of course, Driver Hire, who, from day one, have provided support and advice as my turnaround plan developed. It also reflects on my equally talented team of temporary drivers, who are my business ambassadors. Driver Hire Uxbridge’s formula for success is based on close working relationships with our clients and always delivering on both service and promises.”

Pip Wilkins, CEO of the BFA, commented:

“Ed relished taking on his first franchise for Driver Hire, and through investing in his staff and upskilling, has made the Uxbridge territory one of the highest performers. His focus on client relationships has clearly paid dividends.”

Head of Franchising at HSBC, Andrew Brattesani, added:

“Ed has transformed this business with an intelligent and innovative turnaround strategy and really taking care of his team. His business has gone from one of the worst performing in the Driver Hire network to one of the best.”
