ChipsAway apprentice encourages others to follow suit

Jessica Peck has told her story, hoping to inspire more young people to take the same path and pursue an apprenticeship with ChipsAway.
The 17-year-old finished her Business Administrator apprenticeship with three distinctions in ChipsAway’s Loughborough branch. She has praised the course, as it allowed her time to gain valuable hands-on experience whilst completing college work:
“I was really lucky with my role as it allowed me to both learn and work with ease.”
Peck was quick to explain just how beneficial the ChipsAway apprenticeship has been for her.
“I love talking to different people every day. Before the apprenticeship I was really shy and had no confidence. Talking to customers and suppliers on a daily basis has really developed my communication skills. I really love the fact I came into the workplace with zero experience and learnt everything, whilst being paid. The experience has given me a range of skills which I can take forward in the future.”
For budding entrepreneurs, the automotive industry holds great potential, according to the newly qualified apprentice:
“The automotive industry is a really great industry to be involved in because every day is different and there is the opportunity to evolve and advance your skills. Although with every industry, it can have its challenges, meeting customers’ expectations can be testing, so an apprentice entering this industry should be prepared for this aspect.”
And Peck has big plans for the future too, as the ChipsAway apprenticeship scheme opens doors for its alumni. She said:
“This apprenticeship has allowed me to go into further education, I hope to complete a course at the Open University in Business management.”
Peck was joined in her celebrations by ChipsAway Loughborough franchisees, Jason Kirk and Barry Peck, and concluded:
“I think overall the apprenticeship was the best path I could have chosen.”
