Behind the scenes with a ChipsAway franchisee

Self-employment had always been an ambition of Colin Hall’s, but he had reservations about such a big step. Encouraged by friends who knew his dream was to run his own business, Colin came across ChipsAway which had the reputation, authority and ready-made package of support he needed to take the leap.

He said: I’ve got two young children and a mortgage, and the thought of not having enough work to keep me busy or bring in enough income was daunting. Andy Hodges – Portsmouth

Prior to owning a ChipsAway franchise, Andy ran a small car leasing business, but soon became bored of the 9-5 routine, and wanted a new challenge. When he began thinking of a career move, Andy knew he still wanted to be his own boss, but this time he wanted the support of a franchise behind him.

How has becoming a ChipsAway franchisee changed your life?
“Becoming a franchisee has changed my life. It’s given me the freedom and time to do other things I enjoy outside of work and manage my time the way I want to. I leave the house at around 7.30am and my day consists of doing estimates, booking in customers, marketing, and visiting my 2 employees to check everything is going okay. I’m then home for around 3pm where I follow up on leads.”

Richard Dexter – Herefordshire

Back in 2011 Richard had a career as an experienced Film and TV animator, where he worked on films such as Lord of the Rings and Avatar. Whilst glamourous on the surface, this role came with long hours, and a lifestyle which left Richard spending less and less time with his children; it even began to affect his health.
