Best Western Hotels to Get Multi-Million-Pound Investment

Best Western hotels are to get a big overhaul as the franchise invests £28million into its properties.

As confidence in the hotel market strengthens, Best Western has pledged to set aside £28million by the end of 2019 for its member properties. The capital will allow the hotels to undertake refurbishments or development plans to increase their prospects.

Despite concerns around Brexit, the hotel group feels assured that the market will continue to grow. In a recent investigation, it found that 98.8% of its members were not concerned that Brexit would affect their business, and they are continuing to invest in improving their properties. To support its members, the Best Western Group is ensuring they are able to make these improvements with its £28million investment to help progress the entire business.

Divided between 251 of its member hotels, this investment equates to approximately £855,000 per property, though it isn’t yet clear how the group will allocate the funds.

This isn’t the first time that Best Western has supported its member hotels in such a way. Since 2015, Best Western Great Britain has invested £214million into its properties. Hotels in the North of England and Scotland have seen the most investment from the group over the past few years.

Rob Paterson, chief executive of Best Western Great Britain, explains how these investments are helping to develop the business, “we are committed to improving guest experiences in our member hotels and the multi-million-pound investments being made are increasing the NPS scores, raising brand standards and guest expectations”.

Best Western is also developing its network across the UK. Paterson pointed out that the last 18 months has seen significant progress in the approved pipeline, meaning that we can expect to see more Best Western hotels opening their doors in the very near future. He also explained that 50% of applicants to join the franchise has been for the group’s new brands, such as Vīb – a dynamic and stylish boutique hotel.

The hotel group was founded in 1946 in Phoenix, the US, and the first UK Best Western hotel was established in 1967. The brand currently has 4,000 independently owned and managed hotels around the world.
