A Bartercard franchisee shares his experience of becoming a franchisee, as well as his dos and don’ts.
A Bartercard franchisee has been sharing his top tips for establishing your own business with the help of your franchisor. In an article for Entrepreneur India, Chris Edworthy, who runs his own successful Bartercard franchise, shared his thoughts on how new franchisees can make themselves an asset to their company and make sure that the franchise partnership is a profitable and successful one for both parties.
The member of the B2B franchise explained that every franchisee should be “hardworking, dedicated and needs to believe in the product that they are selling” in order for the partnership to work. If a franchisor can sense that you aren’t truly committed to and enthusiastic about their product or service, feeling like you’re simply interested in becoming a franchisee for the financial gains, Edworthy says this is extremely unappealing.
He says that the best relationship between a franchisee and their franchisor is one where you’re not afraid to demonstrate your leadership skills and drive but can also co-operate fully with the company if they implement changes to the business model. However, Edworthy concludes by saying that, although you should want to comply with your franchisor’s vision, this doesn’t mean your ideas and strategies to take your business to the next level should never be voiced. Franchisees who show their desire to make the business even better, while still sticking to the franchise’s core values, will always be appealing to franchisors.
Bartercard was founded on the Gold Coast of Australia in 1991, after founders Brian Hall and Andrew Federowsky wanted to make their vision for a new business trading platform a reality. After it began to expand internationally in 1995, Bartercard made an impact across the globe and now has over 105 offices across more than eight different countries.
