Wheel Wizard sponsored triathlete, Fabio Spiteri, has broken a world cycling record by covering 1,000km in just 3 days.
Triathlete Fabio Spiteri, who is sponsored by automotive repair franchise Wheel wizard, broke a record by cycling over 1,000km of Sicilian coastline in an incredible three days.
The Maltese triathlete rode with three other Italian cyclists, Daniele Tusa, Adriano Tusa and Valerio Longo and counted on the support of sponsors including Wheel Wizard to ensure he was up to the task.
In tough conditions, which saw the cyclists battle strong head winds for most of the journey and experience a total elevation of 8,000m across the mammoth Sicilian ride, Spiteri battled through the unforgiving Sicilian terrain to break the record.
"As an endurance athlete, that has been practicing such challenges for a number of years, the Sicily in 3 Days Challenge saw me having to dig very deep into my mental strength reserves as well as suffer some painful blisters," said Spiteri, after he had completed the incredible feat of endurance.
"This challenge, apart from attempting to break the existing record, was also to put in mileage and effort so my body can continue to adapt in preparation for my next challenge which is the Triple Ironman".
Wheel Wizard has also sponsored Spiteri through two Ironman triathlons and will continue to support the athlete as he competes in the tough competition again this year.
