Subway has announced the appointment of a new member in its leadership team.

Lorri Christou will oversee all of Subway’s future communications as part of her new job. She’ll take up a position officially titled Vice President of Public Relations, Communications and Public Affairs.

The sandwich franchise made the decision to hire Lorri in order to enhance its communications efforts. She won’t be replacing anyone currently working at Subway; the role is a new one, created by the company to expand its storytelling capabilities, according to one of its representatives.

Lorri, who is based in the Washington DC-Baltimore area, has a quarter of a century of business expertise and at least five years of experience working in communications-focussed roles.

Before joining Subway, she was Vice President of External Communications and Public Relations at Choice Hotels International for three years. And from 2014 to 2016, Lorri worked as Senior Vice President of Strategic Marketing and Communications for the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA).

Lorri has also held roles at public relations and marketing firms Edelman and FleishmanHillard.

Subway’s introduction of Lorri as its new communications leader is just one of the changes the company has made this year. It’s also announced alterations to its partnerships with public relations agencies. Back in October, it transferred its PR efforts over to Current Global, from Ruder Finn. And since October, Taylor Herring has handled its UK consumer projects, and MSL has managed its EMEA activity.
