Promedica24 Offers Additional Support and Donations for Mental Health in Live-In Care
Promedica24 collected testimonials from its clients and care workers about their experience with loneliness so it could turn them into advice on how to stay positive and increase mental wellbeing through lockdowns and winter pressures.
The live-in senior care franchise hoped to tackle the issue of loneliness seen in vulnerable people, especially with the added complication of physical contact restrictions. It’s will be releasing a series of webinars over the coming weeks, as well as promoting the topic through its social media, newsletter, and website.
Paula Beaney, Quality Assurance Director explained how its vulnerable clients can be more prone to loneliness, particularly in the midst of coronavirus lockdowns:
“Loneliness can affect anyone, regardless of their age, social status or living circumstances. Older people and those with health issues that force them to limit their social interactions are particularly vulnerable. [It]had been an issue long before COVID-19, but the pandemic has further exacerbated its negative impact.”
She explained how Promedica24’s Christmas campaign was raising awareness of the issue and providing a platform for people to open up and share their experiences.
“[We’ve] asked our clients, care workers, partners, and the public to send us their stories and ideas on how we can tackle this very real problem, both on an individual and community level. As a live-in care provider, we are doing our utmost best to help older and vulnerable people through the difficulties of the pandemic.
We want to make sure they can safely isolate in familiar surroundings, accompanied by a qualified care worker who supports their mental and physical wellbeing.”
In addition to the mental health advice, Promedica has pledged a donation to the Independent Age - a charity that helps the elderly live healthier and more fulfilled lives - in the name of its staff.
Simon Hewett-Avison, Director of Services at Independent Age, added:
“2020 has been an especially difficult year for people in later life. Far too many older people experienced feelings of loneliness even before the pandemic, and the lockdown and other restrictions has made it even harder for us to connect with each other. We very much appreciate the donation from Promedica24 and look forward to reading the testimonials they create.”
