Fitness Space took part in a day of fun family activities to demonstrate how a Lancashire community can use its facilities.
Hundreds of people got involved in a fun day of sporting activities at the annual Downham Games. Held in the town of Downham, Lancashire at its spacious Memorial Field, there were plenty of enjoyable games and exercises for children and adults to take part in. There was something for everyone’s interests, from rugby, running and cycling for those looking for a high-intensity activity, to yoga and archery for those looking for a less intense way to get active.
Fitness franchise Fitness Space attended to showcase its high-tech gym, which was built last year. The bespoke fitness club offers all of its members a personalised training plan and ongoing support to ensure they reach their goals. Its personal trainers hosted a weightlifting demonstration for the attendees, which gave them a look into just some of the things they could take part in at the state-of-the-art gym.
A representative from the innovative franchise explained why they felt it was so important to get involved with the family fun day.
“Our motto is never train alone. Today we have been handing out free gym sessions for locals, people are so much more into fitness than years ago and we want to help them achieve their body goals.”
The Downham Games started life in 2012 as an Olympics tribute, but it was so popular that it became an annual event that attracts hundreds of visitors every single year. Founder Frances Rayner explained that she set up the event to try to get local people to increase the amount of sporting activity they do. She commented:
“Our social media has been flooded with positive messages. We might need more volunteers next year to make sure everything runs smoothly, there was up to 1,000 people there.”
