Barking Mad has established its first territory in Ireland, signalling the start of its international expansion.
Barking Mad has managed to build a good presence in the UK and is now a popular choice for dog owners across the country who are looking for an alternative to kennels. Now, pet parents across the Irish Sea will be able to take advantage of the pet franchise’s services, as it has just welcomed its first franchisee in the Republic of Ireland.
Jennifer Curtin, from Lahinch, County Clare, will be operating the Galway and Limerick Barking Mad operations. The animal lover said that she was thrilled to be the first person to bring Barking Mad to Ireland.
“I am very proud to launch the Barking Mad alternative to kennels in Ireland. Coming from a large extended family, this is the only time I’ve ever been the first to do anything, so it means a lot! Animals have always been my passion; I have worked as a dog groomer for the last thirteen years and adore my own two dogs: Kala, a Staffordshire bull terrier and Sky, a collie mix.”

Jennifer explained how she became the first franchisee outside the UK.
“Brainstorming with a relative in Yorkshire, they asked if we had anything like Barking Mad in Ireland. After research, I concluded that we didn’t and went straight to the source to launch my own branch. I can’t fault the team at Barking Mad for their support. With their experience, all avenues have been tried and tested, so I’m confident that together we can make a success of Barking Mad in Ireland.”
Jennifer is Barking Mad’s 88th franchisee and its hoped that the brand will continue to grow and prosper both on domestic and international soil in the near future. Managing director, Rachel Stewart, said:
“Launching our first Irish franchise enables us to realise our ambitious expansion programme, working with local dog lovers to bring our multi award-winning dog sitting service to new areas. We are so excited to announce that Barking Mad has gone international and are looking for others to join us! Barking Mad franchise owners benefit from a lifestyle with flexibility, a growing full-time income and the rewards of making a really positive difference to the lives of dog lovers and their four-legged best friends.”
