Wimpy, the fast food franchise giant is kicking off UK comeback in Shrewsbury.

Why Shrewsbury? Over a decade ago, Wimpy moved out of Shrewsbury and now with its big UK comeback, the multinational hamburger chain plans to take off from where it left. The owners of UK’s Wimpy franchise are Famous Brands, a South African based group. The agent from Towler Shaw Roberts who handled the letting for the group, Toby Shaw said: “Having secured planning permission just before Christmas, it is pleasing that the letting has now successfully concluded and fit-out works are due to commence very shortly to create the iconic Wimpy facility and brand.

“This will be a fantastic addition to the town reflecting Shrewsbury’s continuous popularity providing a diverse range of catering establishments.”

The first Wimpy to open its doors in the UK was at Lyons Corner House in London in the rockNrolling 1950’s and by the 80’s the fast food brand had more than 500 outlets across the UK with a restaurant in every town and city. Wimpy’s comeback to the UK is getting back to the multi-national hamburger’s franchise’s days of glory and this time, it is here to stay!
