Wiltshire Farm Foods takes steps to help local residents

Wiltshire Farm Foods’ Isle of Man division is working with local businesses to make sure the community’s most vulnerable residents are catered for.
Before the COVID-19 outbreak, the food franchise was delivering freshly-prepared frozen meals to a network of 500 homes, with the capacity to serve even more. Now people across the country have been told to self-isolate, Wiltshire Farm Foods wants to expand its range of food options to make sure local consumers have everything they need. It’ll be adding weekly essentials to its food selection and partnering with Noa Bakehouse and the Isle of Man Creamery to provide bread and milk at no extra cost.
Company Director Ben Heath thanked both organisations for increasing production:
“We’ve already received some fantastic, heart-warming feedback. The volume of calls we are handling really brings into focus the number of isolated people we have on the island… If people are concerned about parents, grandparents or neighbours, this service can support them. Orders can be placed on their behalf via the website or by calling the team, and there are over 300 dishes to choose from.”
Wiltshire Farm Foods is proud of its progress, but is still appealing to the island’s other catering and hospitality businesses for products it can’t get to its customers.
“It’s important for us to support other local businesses at this time, especially those in the local food supply chain.” Ben added. “Small businesses are at the heart of the island’s community, which is why we need to be supporting them however we can.”
The franchise is also contacting local care homes and other assisted living organisations struggling with a lack of food supplies. Thanks to Wiltshire Farm Food’s alliance with Apetito, it can now offer multi-portion meals for those with specific conditions, such as diabetes and dysphagia.
