Wiltshire Farm Foods saves Christmas

Wiltshire Farm Foods stepped in to help Voluntary Action South Ayrshire (VASA) go ahead with their annual Christmas Day event.

On 25th December, VASA runs its Christmas Companions day - a party with a delicious dinner, as well as entertainment and piles of presents. It’s designed to cater for people over the age of 65 who would otherwise be isolated on the special day.

But, as a result of the new strain of the Covid-19 virus spreading across Scotland, the organisation was forced to put their plans on hold this year. Despite VASA’s commitment to making sure each of its guests could enjoy Christmas Day, the group was unable to deliver its usual service with everyone individually isolating.

Luckily, Wiltshire Farm Foods in Kilwinning was able to lend a helping hand. The food franchise branch is experienced in delivering meals to its customers, so it created a plan to provide a delicious Christmas dinner to each of the party’s guests. In total, the number of dishes created exceeded 120.

VASA didn’t forget the other exciting elements of its usual Christmas party, and each elderly person was also given a hamper of gifts and treats to enjoy on the day. The bundles were carefully delivered to their destinations by generous volunteers across South Ayrshire.

VASA’s Chief Officer, Marie Oliver, expressed her gratitude towards Wiltshire Farm Foods for supporting the organisation’s mission to add a bit of Christmas sparkle among the region’s elderly community.
