Wiltshire Farm Foods helps employee with Brain Tumour

Wiltshire Farm Foods has generously donated an incredible amount to one of its employees’ fundraising efforts.

Elaine Lee from Buckfastleigh in Devon has been living with a brain tumour for a year and a half. In that time, she’s made it her mission to help others in the same position. The Wiltshire Farm Foods employee was diagnosed with a meningioma, which is a slow-growing, low grade type of brain tumour, 19 months ago. Despite the diagnosis coming as a huge shock, especially as she had just watched her beloved father die from brain cancer, Lee was determined to continue to live her life to the fullest.

As part of this, the selfless employee of the food franchise married her childhood sweetheart and decided to begin fundraising for the Brain Tumour Research charity, which is working to find a cure for the devastating disease and improve the lives of those like Lee who are living with it. When her employers heard about her mission, they offered a hugely generous sum of £500 to kick off the fundraising efforts and will be supporting Lee all the way until she reaches her target of £5,000.

Speaking about her illness, Lee said:

“I am fortunate that my tumour is low-grade, but its location means surgery is too risky. At the moment we are watching and waiting to see what happens and my latest scan showed that there was no growth which is positive news. I am looking forward to an extra-special Christmas with Shawn and our girls. It has been a chaotic year and will be such a relief for the six of us to get together.”
