Time to Thrive: The Home Care Revolution – A Guide to Transforming Home Care
Reflecting on his own experience, Dhaliwal describes it as "the book I needed when I was considering getting into the sector" and highlights the opportunities within home care. However, he argues that significant changes are needed to attract more investment and improve its reputation.
“If demand was this healthy in any other sector, investors would be piling in,” he says, noting that nine in ten people prefer home care if needed, while the over-85 population—most likely to require care—is set to reach 3.5 million by 2048. Despite its potential, home care providers face funding challenges, staff shortages, and negative perceptions.
Drawing on his experience in the sector since 2012, Dhaliwal outlines 12 key changes to redefine home care. These include learning from international models, professionalising carer roles, and advocating for fairer funding. He also calls on the government, local authorities, and the NHS to establish a national minimum care rate, introduce new insurance schemes, and harness technology to improve services.
The book aims to inspire entrepreneurs to see home care not only as a rewarding business opportunity but as a sector with the power to transform lives.
