Travelodge inundated with ambitious applicants

Travelodge saw more than 20 times the number of applicants than it had vacant positions at its Rhyl seafront site.
Many people want to get into a career in hospitality, as it can be an incredibly rewarding sector to work in. However, it’s clear Travelodge is a popular choice among many, as its newest site was inundated with applications for just 25 positions.
Travelodge’s newest site, Rhyl Seafront, is set to open this spring and needed to find a dedicated team to make it a brilliant place to visit. But when hotel manager Sophie Owen advertised the 25 vacancies, which include positions on the Reception team, Bar-Café team and Hospitality team, she was shocked to receive more than 500 applications for the small number of positions.
Owens commented on the incredible number of applications and said that she was thrilled to be upholding Travelodge’s commitment to getting parents back in to work.
“I am overwhelmed by the amazing response I have received for the 25 positions I advertised to help build a new team for our first hotel in Rhyl. I was looking for individuals who are as passionate as me about delivering great customer service and I am delighted that I now have a great team of local people in place. Over half of my team are working parents, so by offering flexible working hours, they can come to work, raise a family and climb the career ladder. I started at Travelodge as a receptionist so I am very excited to coach and develop my team members to become Travelodge managers of the future.”
The hotel franchise’s 73-room site will open in the next few months and its staff are currently undergoing extensive training to ensure they’ll be ready for anything once the grand opening day arrives. It’s Travelodge’s first hotel in Rhyl and features a range of family, double and accessible rooms to cater to the needs of all guests.
