For the third year running, Aspray franchisee John Strange and his team at Glasgow West will be taking the title sponsor spot for local ice hockey team, The Glasgow Clan. Delighted with their continuation with the team, Aspray Glasgow West have taken their involvement one step further announcing they will also be sponsoring new player, Stephen Dixon.
Passion for the game is evident throughout the team at Aspray Glasgow West, attending every match possible to show their support for not just the team but its community.
Back to the Beginning
It was his family that led John to the world of ice hockey sponsorship. Knowing he wanted to get involved in a form of athletic sponsorship his took his wife and two children to two different sporting events. The decision came down to a vote – ice hockey won 4-0.
“I hadn’t really been to the hockey before, other than one time in Madison Square Gardens… I was blown away by the game. I absolutely fell in love and now I’m obsessed with The Clan,” said John.
The Glasgow Clan and Covid
John’s involvement has increased since his beginnings in 2019 as sponsor for player, Ramus Bjerrum, now taking the title sponsor for a third year running.
Covid was a tough year for sport across the world and the Glasgow Clan was facing permanent closure. Putting his faith in something he loved, John and Aspray Glasgow West took the role of title sponsor throughout the covid season.
Gerry McLaughlin, Commercial Director of the Glasgow Clan said. “The support we’ve had from John Strange and the team at Aspray Glasgow West has been incredible. They’ve shown great faith and share the passion for what we are trying to achieve at the Clan. I can’t thank them enough for their continued support and I hope the fans will feel comfortable reaching out to them should the worst happen and they need to make a housing insurance claim.”
Clan Chat with Craig Anderson
Recently, John spoke to The Clan’s Craig Anderson about his business and their continues association with the club.
