The Christmas Decorators restores Liverpool's most festive street

The Christmas Decorators has helped restore Liverpool's 'most festive street' after a lorry driver accidentally ripped down its lights.

Dovecoat neighbours Frank McKenna and Theresa Nuttie carefully strung up the decorations in the weeks leading up to the festive period, in order to raise money for Zoe's Place Baby Hospice in the city. Their street garnered lots of attention, not only from residents in the surrounding area but also the press, with both the Liverpool Echo and ITV's Granada Reports highlighting the story.

Thanks to the pair's efforts, Peasefield Road has been dubbed the most Christmassy street in Liverpool. But earlier this month it suffered a setback when a lorry driver accidentally tore down the hanging lights while passing through.

Although the lorry caused £600 of damage, the residents remained calm. Frank said,

"We just had a wagon go down, it wasn't his fault, but he's taken quite a few of the lights down. He drove off. I don't think he realised he was doing much damage. He's taken six full sets down. It's just one of those things. It's our own fault for not having them high enough, to be honest."

After the festive fiasco, Frank and Theresa were quick to restore the street to its former glory by installing new lights. The Christmas Decorators Speke branch was also keen to lend a hand. In response to the damage, the decoration franchise unit donated several boxes of lights to the project.

One employee explained,

"As a local Christmas decorating firm, we felt it was important to help the residents out and get their street back, lit for all to enjoy after a terrible year.

"Our managing directors have donated multiple boxes of lights to the residents so they can get the street back to its title 'Liverpool's most festive street' with more lights than they had before they started!"
