The Christmas Decorators has helped spread festive cheer in Cheltenham by installing decorations that appear to wrap up a house like a present.
The family home, which is situated on the corner of Sydenham Villas Road, now features huge swathes of red ribbon and a large bow on one side. Its occupants said they’re not looking for attention, but simply want to make people happy after a “rubbish year”.
"We used a commercial company, The Christmas Decorators, it took eight people 12 hours to do it. We've been decorating the house for three years, people love it.
"Everybody needs a bit of Christmas cheer after this year. It's been a pretty rubbish year and we love Christmas, so we just wanted to make people smile."
The creative decorations have already caused a sensation on social media; one Twitter user said,
"My nearly three-year-old little girl is very excited for Christmas this year and I can't wait to take her on a little walk past this house to see her face.”
Another person praised the design:
"Awesome work on putting some extra magic into Christmas with so many of the usual festivities cancelled this difficult year!"
At the moment, the family plan to leave the decorations up for as long as possible, and have mentioned they’d be happy if passers-by were to donate to Gloucestershire’s foodbank charity, The Trussell Trust or Cheltenham Guardians.
The neighbours in particular have been happy with the installation of the Christmas decorations. Recently, street lights in the area had been removed, so the lights on the trees are helping everyone to feel safer and more secure.
