The Bardon Group has ongoing involvement with Lancaster University Business School’s franchising module.

The Bardon Group is one of the leading multi-brand franchisors in the UK. It operates four market-leading franchise brands, Recognition Express, ComputerXplorers, Techclean and Kall Kwik, the first three of which are on the Point Franchise network.

It has been sponsoring the franchising module annual prize at Lancaster University Management School for over two decades now. To mark this significant period of time, The Bardon Group will be the subject of this year’s award essay.

The university runs a BSc Hons in Management and Entrepreneurship, and the ENSI311 Franchise Module gives students the chance to analyse where franchising sits in the global economy. They can delve into the management issues that are part and parcel of founding and developing a franchise network.

Every year, the students are set a subject for the academic essay that forms part of the assessment for the annual franchising module prize by Senior Lecturer Dr Lola Dada. This year, she set the title as ‘Why the Bardon Group has been able to achieve success as a leading franchise company.’ The students rose to the task and have produced some excellent papers.

The Bardon Group’s Managing Director Nigel Toplis commented:

**“It was a real honour for me to learn that our great company itself was the subject for this year’s award essay. It was interesting to see how the students have applied an academic approach to evaluating our success and I enjoyed reading their work.**

**“Franchising plays such a vital part in the UK economy, yet Lancaster is alone in including a module on this business model in its curriculum. I am committed to helping publicise the importance of franchising and the success it brings to a wider audience and engaging with students at the beginning of their business life is a key part of this.”**

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, students are no longer attending university. The assessment of group work and marking will take place remotely, and the winning prize will be presented by Mr Toplis as soon as the university re-opens.
