TaxAssist Accountants has released a guide to shine a light on ways we can all support local business this Christmas.
With ‘Small Business Saturday’ just two weeks away, the bookkeeping and accounting franchise is encouraging readers to buy local. The annual celebration aims to boost sales and provide vital support to small business owners, but there are several steps we can all take to help entrepreneurs this Christmas.
Here’s a run-down of TaxAssist Accountants’ six tips to support small businesses:
1. Find out if your local businesses have launched online stores
You can still buy from small businesses when their doors are closed. Many will have created e-commerce sites or developed their online presence.
2. Take advantage of click and collect or delivery options
If your local businesses don’t have online sites, TaxAssist Accountants suggests finding out about alternative options. Perhaps they are offering click-and-collect or delivery services.
3. Buy a gift card
Don’t overlook the value of gift cards. If you don’t want or need anything from your local businesses, consider purchasing a voucher to gift to friends or spend at a later date.
4. Like and share small business profiles on social media
Small businesses always appreciate positive recommendations, and just one like or share of a post can go a long way. It only takes a few seconds but it could make a big difference to a new start-up.
5. Visit virtual Christmas markets
With Christmas markets cancelled this year, many people will miss the opportunity to invest in small businesses. Take the time to seek out virtual events and support local artisans online instead.
6. Order takeaways from local pubs and restaurants
During the lockdowns, many eateries have turned their focus towards takeaway meals. Take advantage of the chance to enjoy your favourite dishes in the comfort of your own home by ordering from your local.
