Subway opens in Billingham
Billingham welcomes Subway for the first time.
Subway has just announced that it is opening a new store in Billingham, making it the first time the brand has been introduced to the town centre. Another Subway is already open in a nearby service station, which has proved popular.
The new store arrives as the town centre is being regenerated by the St. Modwen’s development. This new scheme is bringing more big brands to the town, and Subway is one of the first to be named. It has agreed to a 10-year lease in the development, demonstrating how confident it is in the store’s success in the location.
Subway in Billingham will be an 895sq ft unit on 49 Queensway and is set open in a few months – though it could be within a matter of weeks.
Billingham councillor Nigel Cooke says of the new opening, “it is fantastic to hear that Subway has chosen Billingham Town Centre as the location for a new branch. Billingham is a good place for businesses, as evidenced by the fact existing businesses are committing to long-term lease renewals”.
Subway isn’t the only brand to invest in Billingham. Aldi and Costa Coffee moved into the town over the last two years, and Argos has also just signed a 10-year lease.
Billingham residents can look forward to enjoying Subway’s famous sandwiches with a wide range of fillings and soft drinks to go with it. The brand also now offers platters that are ideal for picnics and business lunches, children’s packed lunched and salads. They can also get the SUBCARD® app to earn points every time they spend with Subway and enjoy discounts on sandwiches and more.
From humble beginnings in the 1970s with one restaurant, Subway has gone on to become the world’s largest retailer of sub sandwiches in the world. There are now more than 44,000 Subway stores worldwide and it is one of the most recognised brands. In the UK alone, Subway boasts over 2,400 stores and the number is growing – this latest store in Billingham is just one of many to open in 2018.
