Subway has launched a campaign to provide several lucky gamers the chance to win a free sub sandwich.
According to a recent study, 40 percent of 16-30 year olds say they’re obsessed with gaming. In fact, one in 10 admit to skipping work to continue playing. Shockingly, more than half say they often forget to eat while using their consoles, with nine percent having gone over 12 hours without food. But unsurprisingly, 95 percent believe they’re gaming for longer every day as a result of the lockdown.
Following the release of the new research, Subway has introduced its Gamer SOS campaign to send out free sandwiches to the nation’s most dedicated players. Friends can nominate worthy winners on social media with the hashtag #SendOutSubs. The sandwich franchise will then pick several lucky individuals and send them a ‘sub’ via Deliveroo, Just Eat or Uber Eats.
Angie Gosal, Subway’s Head of Marketing, explained,
“Our new research indicates that we’re clearly a nation of dedicated gamers - from those who play for up to ten hours a day to those who use it to unwind after a long day.
“More of us are getting into gaming than ever before, and it’s not difficult to see why - research shows we feel connected and happier while playing and enjoy feeling part of the gaming community. It’s a great way to boost wellbeing and relax at home.”
With many people struggling as a result of the national lockdown, Subway’s team is looking forward to being able to put a smile on people’s faces. Angie added,
“As the nation’s favourite sandwich shop, we want to help gamers ‘power up’ with our #SendOutSubs campaign and deliver sustenance with our delivery partners to reach their gaming goals!”
