Subway introduces six-foot sandwich

Subway has capitalised on the success of its pig in blankets sub by introducing a new - much larger - version.
The sandwich franchise is set to roll out its six-foot pigs in blanket sub next Wednesday. It will trial the product in select stores in London, Manchester and Northern Ireland, with a view to rolling it out across the UK.
The eye-catching sub is almost two metres in length and stuffed with tasty fillings. It includes a grand total of 36 pigs in blankets, as well as 64 slices of American cheese and 24 slices of red onion. Underneath, there are 96 slices of tomatoes, 96 slices of mixed peppers and a bed of fresh spinach. The ingredients are all placed carefully inside a crusty tiger bread roll and topped with Southwest sauce.
The resulting sandwich, which is priced at £120, is large enough to feed three households - just in time for the five-day relaxation of lockdown rules over Christmas. It’s served as a takeaway item in an enormous box with carry handles. You’ll need to bring a friend to collect it with you, as it’s too big to manage single-handedly.
Demand for the sizeable sub is expected to be high, so customers looking for a festive treat will have to pre-order it.
The unveiling of the immense pigs in blankets sandwich comes after Subway’s original - and much smaller - pig in blanket sub became one of its most popular products. It’s been on offer across the franchise network since last month as part of the franchise’s delicious Christmas menu.
Customers can also get their hands on other festive goodies, such as the Turkey Breast SubStack, limited edition Mince Pies and chocolate orange cookies. And you can wash it all down with a warming Honeycomb Coffee or Hot Chocolate.
