Subway has added new items to its menu of vegan options ready for the rise in demand for meat-free products this January.
The first new addition is the T.L.C., which stands for ‘tastes like chicken’. It’s a sub designed to emulate the delicious flavours of a chicken sandwich for everyone who’s choosing to avoid meat during the first month of 2021.
The innovative item is made with soy-based proteins in a recipe perfected over 10 years. It’s also topped with Violife vegan cheese, but customers can customise it to suit their own personal tastes. It comes in the form of a six-inch or foot-long sub, or a wrap and can even be turned into a salad.
Subway’s Head of Marketing for UK and Ireland, Angelina Gosal, is proud of the franchise’s new product:
“Our new plant-based T.L.C. sub will delight both our vegan and non-vegan fans - we’ve created a product that tastes so much like our flavour-full chicken breast strips, guests will be surprised it’s not the real thing.”
There’s also good news for vegan fans of the sandwich franchise’s cookie selection. Subway has built on its range of sweet products and introduced a non-dairy double chocolate cookie just in time for Veganuary. This is the first time the food chain has sold a vegan cookie, and customers can get their hands on it as an individual item, as a pack of three or in a 12-cookie sharing box.
These new menu additions join Subway’s existing range of vegan products, such as the famous Meatless Meatball Marinara and the Plant-Based Patty.
Angelina added,
"With our new additions, we now have one of the biggest and tastiest plant-based menus on the high street, to offer [customers] even more choice.”
