Subway branch in Newport opens after refurbishment

A Newport branch of Subway has opened its doors to the public again after a shiny new refit.
The sandwich franchise location has been serving up Subway’s famous customisable meal options for 16 years. It’s based on Newport’s High Street and was a popular spot for hungry locals in need of a quick and convenient bite to eat. But the branch’s many years of success meant it was becoming dated in its design and furnishings, so it was time for a complete refurbishment.
The design project cost £100,000 in total, bringing the franchise location up to the standard of brand new Subway stores. The refitted outlet now has a new shop front to attract passers-by, as well as new flooring, wall coverings, wall art and lighting. There are even a few modern twists to ease the ordering process; digital menu boards and a remote order pick-up area.
With its new fresh look, the Newport Subway location reflects the brand’s current style, ready for the franchise’s 55th anniversary last week.
Owner Adam Brunt also runs several other Subway outlets in Newport, including two on Cardiff Road and one near Friars Walk shopping centre. He said,
“We’re hugely proud to bring the new look design to this store, which was the first store to open in Newport back in 2004. The modern design will offer customers more of what they love about Subway – highlighting our bread baked in store daily, cookies and some of our veggies in bright modern displays – while offering great value and fresh, varied menu options."
