Subway adds permanent menu item

Subway has delighted fans of a vegan diet by announcing its exclusive sandwich, the Meatless Meatball Marinara, will be added to its menu permanently.
The plant-based sandwich was introduced as part of Subway’s Veganuary campaign at the start of 2020 and was originally intended to be a limited-time offer. But it’s proven so popular – among vegans and meat-eaters alike – the sandwich franchise has decided to make it a permanent addition to its menu.
The vegan ‘sub’ has found so many fans, it has become one of Subway’s top five best-selling sandwiches of all time. It sits alongside the Chicken Teriyaki, the Italian BMT, the Spicy Tuna, the Spicy Italian and the original Meatball Marinara.
The tasty treat is made with plant-based ‘meatballs’, marinara sauce and topped with vegan cheese, all of which come in at a total of 469 calories. Unsurprisingly, Subway customers were quick to comment on the ‘Meatless Meatball Marinara’ on social media. One Twitter user wrote:
"Without a doubt the BEST food I’ve had since turning veggie."
But there’s even more good news for Subway fans. The franchise will be rolling out its delivery service to even more regions across the UK and Ireland, thanks to partnerships with UberEats and Just Eat. Thanks to this expansion, even more customers can now enjoy Subway’s range of filling sandwiches from the comfort of their own home.
Colin Hughes, the Country Director of Subway UK & Ireland, explained:
“Our guests have told us how much they love our Meatless Meatball Marinara. Now they can get their hands on our delicious, plant-based Sub whenever they want, made however they want, whenever they want. All in the knowledge that, at Subway, they now have even more delicious vegan options than ever.”
