Speedy Freight records growth and climbing profits
Courier and delivery franchise, Speedy Freight, has announced that 2017 was a fantastic year, with soaring profits and turnover to celebrate. Following Eddie Stobart’s purchase of 50% of the company, the courier and freight delivery service has seen remarkable growth in all areas of the company, including a recorded turnover growth of more than 8% from £16.9m to £18.3m.
Puro Ventures, who trade as Speedy Freight, had a fantastic year all round, with cost of sales (which indicates franchisee turnover) increasing 8.6% year-on-year from £13.8 million to £15 million and pre-tax profit climbing 14% to £1.6 million.
The company is investing much of these profits back into improving and developing its IT infrastructure, after a year that saw it sign up 12 new franchisees. Speedy Freight now has 46 locations across the UK with over 2,500 vans on the road making deliveries every day.
The directors issued a statement explaining their excitement at the growth. In it they commented: “Our continued investment in training and development of both our people and our franchisee family has not only allowed us to manage the existing growth in a controlled and organised manner but position ourselves for continued sustained future growth.”
Speedy Freight specialises in same day deliveries and can collect parcels within the hour for urgent deliveries. It can make deliveries of any size thanks to its fleet of vehicles that includes everything from cars up to articulated trucks, including specialist urgent, fragile and high value goods. It provides a 24/7 service that’s cost-effective and reliable.
The company has over 30 centres across the UK and is always welcoming new franchisees. Its structure means that couriers work and run their own business while enjoying access to Speedy Freight’s exclusive marketing and technology.
