Signs Express goes green

Signs Express’ Bath franchisee has committed to a scheme that will see the branch aim to reduce the amount of non-recyclable waste it produces.
The Bath branch of the signage franchise Signs Express is doing its bit to save the planet, as it’s signed up to the Planet Mark Sustainability Scheme. It will now change its approach to the recycling of non-commercial plastic and cardboard waste, looking to reuse or recycle as much of its waste as it possibly can.
Mark Collins, owner and franchisee, opened his Signs Express location just over a year ago, but is already making a conscious effort to ensure his business has a positive impact on the environment.
As well as changing its approach to recycling, the franchise has introduced a non-PVC vinyl from 3M as a more sustainable alternative to traditional vinyl, and started offering biodegradable eco-board from Sygnus. Although the eco products will cost slightly more than the traditional offerings, the franchise believes it’s important to offer its clients sustainable as well as low-cost products to meet their needs.
Owner and franchisee Mark Collins explained why he’s made the commitment to prioritise sustainability.
“We are looking towards meeting our targets on recycling and substrates by the end of this year. It is just a case of trying to be friendlier to the planet. Our next major step is finding a way to recycle at minimal or no cost to the business, as there is often a fee that comes with working with organisations to recycle materials.”
Collins’ team of three dedicated staff offer a wide range of printing services and he is just one of more than 65 franchisees operating across the UK and Republic of Ireland. With more than 30 years of experience behind the business, it’s grown into one of the leading signage franchises in the country.
