Schmidt sets a sustainability example

Schmidt is proud to offer sustainable kitchen and interior solutions for eco-conscious consumers.
As we become increasingly aware of the effect of our consumer choices on the natural world, businesses will have to adapt if they’re to remain successful. Schmidt is one of the franchises that has taken steps to reduce its environmental impact. According to the kitchen franchise, 80 percent of US and UK consumers like brands that help them to be more environmentally friendly and ethical.
Schmidt’s efforts have not gone unnoticed; it’s the first made-to-measure kitchen and interiors manufacturer to achieve quadruple certifications for its environmental, health and safety, energy use and quality standards. It has also reduced half of its waste per package at its manufacturing base and recycles all waste that remains.
What’s more, Schmidt has halved its solvent emissions in its finishing workshops and removed carcinogens to protect workers, franchisees and customers. And its newest production site has solar panels, which reduces CO2 emissions by five tonnes and collects a million litres of rainwater every year.
Finally, the franchise works towards sustainability in collecting wood from forests and uses carbon offsetting to compensate for damage caused by transportation.
Schmidt’s UK Expansion Manager Rosalyn Hastings said:
"Today's consumers want to be reassured that the products they are installing into their homes are as environmentally friendly and sustainable as possible. When they purchase from Schmidt, they can be reassured by our certifications that they are making the right decision. We provide our franchisees with information, training and POS materials to enhance the customers' knowledge and reassure them during their buying experience."
