Schmidt sees record sales during pandemic

Kitchen franchise and interior design business Schmidt has reported record sales for August and September 2020, with figures up 139% and 146% respectively from last year.
Expansion Manager for Schmidt UK, Rosalyn Hastings, says demand for multifunctional homes has boomed in the last few months, since homes are no longer just places for evenings and weekends. Living spaces are now offices, study spaces and workshops too.
“All this has driven a massive increase in business for the franchisee partners who own our 28 showrooms across the UK,” she says. “We’ve seen a huge increase in online requests for appointments from customers keen to get their projects started.”
During lockdown, customers have been using Schmidt’s Creativ’Box tool to design and order bespoke kitchens, bedrooms and living areas. And Rosalyn says this is no short-lived boom.
“A survey by The Institute of Directors shows that 74% of 1,000 firms say that they plan on maintaining home working even after the pandemic. Home working is here to stay, and people need homes that make it easy,” she adds.
As a result of this growth, Schmidt says it’s looking to expand its franchisee network.
“We are actively seeking more franchisees now and our performance, plus the upturn in the home improvements and retail sectors, mean that banks are now happy to lend to prospective Schmidt franchisees.”
Schmidt will be supporting its franchisee network with TV advertising and national social media campaigns, to continue driving growth and success over the coming months.
