Rocket’s says guten tag to Germany

Rocket’s is taking its delicious burgers to Germany in its first international opening.

Irish diner franchise Rocket’s is taking the first step towards global domination, announcing it has secured its first sites in Germany. The successful food franchise, which has been crowned as having the tastiest burger in the whole of Ireland, is turning its sights to the powerhouse of Europe as it seeks to take Rocket’s international.

Parent company Rocket Restaurants Limited has signed a franchise agreement with Areas, part of global food services giant Elior Group and aims to open 20 of its diner style franchises in the next three years. Its first location is at Baden-Wurttemburg’s Centre Parcs, where guests will be able to enjoy Rocket’s delicious range of burgers, fries and shakes during their weekend breaks.

Niall Fortune, founder and managing director, said:

“We are convinced that Areas is the ideal partner to establish Rocket’s on a long-term and sustainable basis in Germany.”

He added that he felt Areas’ experience in “building brand awareness and market share” in a tough and competitive market would help Rocket’s establish itself as a popular brand in the German market.

The franchise has ambitious goals, with Fortune expecting to add 30 more restaurants to the 50 established sites by 2020. Sites that are being targeted include service stations and other transport hubs and shopping centres, for their ability to accommodate Rocket’s fast-casual dining style.

Established in 1989 by Niall Fortune, Rocket’s and its sister brand Eddie Rocket’s have grown into one of the best loved American diner-style franchises in Ireland. Its fantastic food and successful business model have been celebrated numerous times, winning the 2017 Irish Franchise of the Year award and other accolades for its growth and positive franchisee experience.
