Really Awesome Coffee franchisee chats with BBC Radio Coventry and Worcestershire

Steve Silver, who runs Really Awesome Coffee Coventry North alongside his wife, recently stopped for a chat with BBC Radio about UK workers’ gradual return to the office.
According to BBC Radio CWR, Steve’s first run of the day with his coffee van takes place at a business park, and many of the locations along his route when he first took over Really Awesome Coffee Coventry North two years ago were similarly reliant on office workers for business. Speaking to him as many employees finally return to the office and stop working from home, BBC Radio CWR asked Steve if he’d noticed a change.
Steve said yes, he definitely had, and expressed that, “Certainly yesterday was a lot busier in certain locations that I go to with office workers coming back.” The discussion then turned to Steve’s journey. As mentioned above, he took over Really Awesome Coffee just prior to the first lockdown, and as he put it, “I thought it was possibly one of the worst decisions that I’d ever made, but it’s actually worked out quite well for us. I’ve remained pretty busy all the way throughout.”
In fact, in this time, Steve even brought his wife on board when she was made redundant, and the pair took on a second van - with his wife focusing on a round around the Coventry schools. Targeting schools was just one part of the pivot Really Awesome Coffee Coventry North had to execute during COVID times to ensure the coffee van franchise kept pulling in business. In Steve’s words, “We looked at schools, we looked at doing home deliveries. We’ve used social media quite a lot to promote the business, and it’s worked very well.”
Steve was honest that the last two years had been “interesting” for his family, but he was also hopeful and confident about his future with Really Awesome Coffee. Customers that visit Really Awesome Coffee Coventry North’s two vans can enjoy amazing service and the wide, tasty range of coffees, frappes, sandwiches and paninis.
