Razzamatazz branch welcomes a new leading lady

Razzamatazz North Bristol is set to welcome a new star to lead the theatre school to the top.

Razzamatazz Theatre School has been celebrating a change of ownership at its North Bristol branch. Since it was set up in 2013, owners James Murden and Ross Brown have run the franchise successfully, providing the young people of Bristol with a fantastic opportunity to develop their performance skills in a wide range of disciplines.

From street dance, to acting for camera to West End musical theatre, children learn plenty of performance techniques during their time at Razzamatazz. However, personal commitments in the men’s lives meant that they felt it was time to hand the reigns to someone else. So, from September, Murden and Brown will leave the running of their beloved Bristol franchise to Georgia Davies. Its hoped she will continue the franchise’s success and help more children on their journeys to stardom.

Speaking about his departure, Murden said:

“It is really sad to be leaving, but unfortunately due to other commitments in our lives the time has come for us to say goodbye. The school has played a huge part in our lives and me and Ross are really proud to be able to say that we have brought it this far. We have done fabulous showcases, for example Razz at the Movies, Razz at the Hippodrome and finally Razz at the Old Vic amongst others.”

He added that he was thrilled to have found Davies as the new owner and looked forward to seeing what she’d bring to the theatre school.

“Georgia is the only person who ticked every single box in terms of what we were looking for in a new owner. We are really looking forward to seeing what she brings to the area in the future. She has some brilliant ideas [and] Razzamatazz has been integral in the development of a lot of children in this area so we want to see that continue under the new ownership in September.”

Since it was set up in 2000, following a generous investment from Dragons’ Den’s Duncan Bannatyne, Razzamataz has grown to have over 40 schools across the UK. It puts the focus on allowing children to use performance to develop their confidence in acting, singing and dancing but also within themselves. With classes for children as young as four right up to the age of 18, as well as parent assisted classes for 2-3-year olds and focused classes for professional audition preparation, Razzamataz has something for every child.
