Matt and Lis Barnes take on a new Radfield Home Care franchise near High Wycombe.
Having successfully finished their initial training, Matt, who has experience working in financial services, and his mother Lis, who has held various senior HR positions, are in the final stages of launching Radfield Home Care Wycombe, Beaconsfield & South Bucks.
As a mother and son partnership, Matt and Lis’s new venture has personal motivation behind it. With their mother and grandmother in need of extra support, the lack of suitable home care options troubled their family. Although neither possessed experience within the healthcare industry or as part of a franchise, Radfield Home Care offered the chance to ensure that expert and specialised care was available in the local area.
“Undergoing this personal journey into the sector really opened our eyes to the gap in the market for a high quality, client-focussed home care service that can really help older people within the High Wycombe area,” Matt said. “This also coincided with me reaching a point in my career where the next natural step was to create something of my own.”
With limited knowledge and experience of the sector, Matt and Lis were grateful for the guidance that Radfield Home Care provides. Representatives from the home care franchise collaborated with the pair as they achieved their Care Quality Commision registration and appointed their Registered Care Manager.
Lis described her personal experience of supporting and rewarding those around her: “throughout our franchise research process, this is something Radfield spoke a lot about. This really appealed to me and I had a lot of ideas flying around about how we can provide a great work environment. It just felt like a natural fit for me!”
Having recruited a workforce for their new Radfield Home Care branch, Matt and Lis are looking forward welcoming their first clients in the weeks that follow.
