Radfield Home Care Stamford has won the Best New Start-Up prize at the Rutland & Stamford Mercury Business Awards in the East Midlands.
Since 2005, the annual event has celebrated successful local businesses and the people who work for them. It has 10 different prize categories and appoints a panel of judges to decide on the final winners.
Radfield Home Care’s Stamford branch was launched in 2019 by James and Stefania Beech. They have been able to develop the business to support the elderly community in their area.
James said,
“We are delighted as we weren’t expecting the award. You always enter things and are not sure how they will turn out but we have a good story and have really created something special. We’ve only been going 18 months, so it’s great to get recognition.”
He continued,
“We constantly get fantastic feedback. That’s a good thing about this business; we really make a difference to people’s lives. It’s always challenging setting up a business from scratch, as you have no customers or income, but we have done things in the right way and built a loyal following of clients which continues to grow.”
The pair aren’t ready to stop pushing forward any time soon. They intend to grow their customer pool and hire new employees, but are determined to maintain the home care franchise's family focus.
The branch was awarded the prize after judge Andrew Heeler, from Hegarty Solicitors, selected it as its lucky winner. He had to make “one of the toughest decisions” he has ever made, but justified his choice:
“Based on where [Radfield Home Care Stamford] is now as a business, it has more people employed in the business and I have the impression that its turnover is very impressive.”
