Radfield Home Care Milton Keynes has achieved an accreditation for paying its employees the ‘real living wage’.
While the government stipulates a minimum wage, which is currently £8.72 per hour for over-25s, the Living Wage Foundation recognises employers who pay their staff at least £9.50. The organisation calculates a realistic payment amount to reflect costs associated with living and supporting a family, as well as ongoing inflation rates.
Thanks to the Living Wage Foundation’s efforts, more than 250,000 workers have already received a pay rise, and their businesses have seen an increase in employee retention rates.
Radfield Home Care has always prioritised its staff and worked to support them. Previously, the care franchise has introduced its Caring For Carers Pledge, which includes fair wages, an employee recognition programme and a supportive working environment.
Now, Radfield Home Care’s Milton Keynes branch in Buckinghamshire has reinforced its dedication to employee wellbeing by gaining a living wage accreditation. It can proudly display its certificate from the Living Wage Foundation for all to see.
Jane Franks, the Director of the Milton Keynes care business, explained why the franchise unit had decided to pursue the accreditation:
“Paying the living wage was just a natural step for us to take. It supports the Radfield Home Care ethos, and our 'Caring for our Carers' pledge. It reflects the value of the expertise our care professionals bring in providing excellence in care.”
She added,
“This is an important part of looking after our care professionals and ensuring they have a real living wage that represents everyday reality.”
