Puddle Ducks saves local swimming pool

Puddle Ducks has come to the rescue of a local school’s swimming facility, saving a local community’s much-loved centre.
A generous Puddle Ducks franchisee is celebrating the re-opening of a swimming facility that she selflessly stepped in to save more than a year ago.
Jenny Brown, who owns Puddle Ducks West Yorkshire, began hosting lessons at Ilkley Grammar School’s swimming centre in September 2017. However, she was devastated to learn that the centre had extensive issues with its infrastructure that it didn’t have the funding to repair. Determined to stop the pool shutting down, Jenny stepped in and paid for the cost of the renovation work, which has now restored the pool to its former glory.
Jenny explained why she made the charitable decision.
“The pool is used not only by us and the school, but also by the local community, who come along to learn to swim, exercise and have fun. I did what anyone in my position would have done and stepped in to help at a time in need. I really hope the pool gives our community many more years of learning and fun in the water.”
She added that the facility will give young children in the local area a place to learn vital water-safety skills.
“Recently, the Swimming Teachers Association (STA) reported that 1 in 3 children are unable to swim when they leave primary school. This really highlighted to me how important it is for swimmers to have a pool to learn to swim in that is both safe and welcoming. So, letting Ilkley Grammar School’s pool close just wasn’t an option for me.”
Swimming franchise Puddle Ducks has territories available all across the UK, meaning you could be running one in your local area. It is a full member of the bfa and EWIF and has won multiple awards for its business model.
