Papa John’s has introduced a cool new augmented reality box to mark the release of the brand new Spiderman film.
Papa John’s is claiming a world first with its brand-new augmented reality (AR) pizza boxes, as it’s the first pizza restaurant to offer digitally interactive packaging to its hungry customers.
Designed to work with photo-sharing app Snapchat, the boxes have a Snapcode on them which can be scanned by anyone with the app. Once scanned, the box will transform into a landscape featuring lots of famous European landmarks to mark the continental setting of the newly released Spiderman: Far From Home movie. These include the Palace of Westminster, Tower Bridge and the Rialto Bridge in Venice.

Chief Marketing Officer, Karlin Linhardt, commented on the pizza franchise’s innovative pizza box experience.
“This augmented reality encounter will allow Papa John’s to elevate the pizza eating moment by giving consumers a fun, interactive and contextual experience. We are excited to be the first pizza company to offer augmented reality through Snapcode on our boxes, giving users the experience of seeing iconic architecture like Big Ben, the Venice canals and Tower Bridge while they enjoy our pizza wherever they choose.”
Papa John’s has more than 400 stores across the UK and is actively looking to expand its presence across the country, hoping to hit 600 units soon. It has been named as the UK’s leading Pizza Delivery Operator an incredible six times by the Pizza, Pasta and Italian Food Association.
