A Sheffield Papa John’s outlet has been recognised as the franchise’s Highest Sale Growth Store for 2018.
Tofur Ali, the owner of a Papa John’s outlet on Prince of Wales Road, Sheffield, has been awarded for all of his hard work over the previous year. His store was recognised for achieving the highest sales growth out of all Papa John’s stores across the country at the brand’s largest ever franchise conference in Birmingham.
Before Tofur joined Papa John’s in 2011, he had worked his way up at a rival pizza store to become Head of Operations at its Essex branch. Frustrated with the lack of further opportunities on offer, Tofur jumped ship to Papa John’s. There, he was given the opportunity to become a franchise partner and start his own business.
Looking back on this changing point of his career, Tofur said: “Papa John’s… was growing rapidly and there were lots of opportunities. My first Papa John’s store in Brentwood store was a huge success and it became one of the busiest in the UK”.

Since then, Tofur sold his Brentwood store and opened two stores in Sheffield. He also has plans to open a further six in the local area. Tofur’s business journey is just one example of many success stories that are told by Papa John’s franchisees. The pizza franchise offers a long-term investment programme for prospective franchisees that encourages them to make the most of their money.
In response to receiving the award, Tofur was quick to praise the efforts of the team behind him: “I was delighted with the award which underlines the hard work and commitment from every member of my team at the Prince of Wales, Sheffield store. I took over the store at the end of 2017 and since then have restructured the team and worked to improve the processes to ensure everything was in order. There was no magic wand! I didn’t do any big marketing campaign, I just simply got right back to basics”.
