Papa John’s has shared the incredible story of how one of its former delivery drivers has become a successful franchisee.
Many of us dream of progressing up the career ladder and claiming the top spot one day, but a franchisee of Papa John’s has made that dream a reality.
Abassin Badshah began his career in 2002 as a delivery driver for his local Papa John’s branch. It was a part-time job for him while he studied business at university, but the ambitious worker gradually progressed to the role of supervisor at the Catford branch of the pizza franchise. Badshah explains what motivated him to look into buying his very own franchise.
“I knew the pizza was amazing. Papa John’s concept of: ‘BETTER INGREDIENTS. BETTER PIZZA.’ means we only use the finest ingredients and fresh dough which gives it the best taste! It also meant there was a huge demand and customers were really hungry for what we offered! I realised becoming a franchisee and having my own Papa John’s would be a great business opportunity.”
He took the plunge six years ago and purchased the Catford branch. Explaining the challenges he faced at that time and when he decided to open his second franchise, Badshah says:
“At the time, there was less brand awareness than there is now, but we quickly became busy! More recently, in order to keep up with demand it became clear we needed to open another store nearby. The Bromley store situated centrally on East Street now enables us to provide a faster service to a wider area and to serve our loyal and valued customers even better. I have further plans to open more stores locally in the near future.”
Badshah now employs over 30 people across the two branches and says that he looks forward to seeing what the future holds for his little pizza empire.
