A Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe branch in Knutsford has brightened up its storefront with a rainbow-coloured Wellington boot display.
Most people are feeling a bit down at the moment, but one Mr Simms shop decided to cheer up passers-by with a jolly art exhibit. Julia Chard, who runs the sweet shop franchise business, had already put the many rainbow drawings she’d been given by local children in her store window. Since the start of the UK lockdown, business and home owners alike have stuck up colourful artworks with the symbolic image of the rainbow in their windows.
Julia was inspired by the children’s drawings and decided to take the display one step further. She said,
"Having a window full of rainbows Knutsford children made for me during lockdown gave me the idea to have some planted rainbow-coloured wellies in front of the shop.
"With no RHS show at Tatton this year we wanted to celebrate anyway.”
Now, visitors will be able to admire the many pairs of boots lined up in front of the shop, each painted a different colour. The fun footwear is bursting with plants and flowers, creating a cheery scene for those who walk by. According to Julia, her new, improved display has made people happy during dark times:
“Customers are loving them, with lots of visitors taking photos.”
Mr Simms is grateful to its customers for helping the business survive the pandemic and Julia hopes its rigorous safety measures will encourage customers to come back instore.
"Support for our sweet shop has been amazing right the way through lockdown and thankfully has continued now we are again fully open. We have all necessary safety measures in place to look after our customers and staff."
