Mr Electric brings EV friendly technology to Cornwall and South Devon after it becomes a government-approved installer.

Following its approval to install electric vehicles (EV) across the Black Country, Mr Electric is proud to announce that the company has also been recognised as a government-approved installer of EV charging points in Cornwall and South Devon. Servicing homes, workplaces and public areas, the UK’s leading electrical franchise will be installing EV charging points across the area, making it easier for those with plug-in vehicles to charge them up wherever they are.

With its accreditation from the Government’s Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) and the growing demand for electric vehicles, Mr Electric is reaping the benefits. Working with the electrical contracting body, NICEIC, its electricians will be trained in the specific requirements of electric vehicle charging points. Once qualified, they will be able to install the charging points as well as advising customers on site surveying, design, monitoring, billing, smart control and maintenance.

Mr Electric can also help both its domestic and commercial customers apply for grants that help with the cost of installing the EV charging points. These include the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme, which can cover up to 75% of the installation cost for domestic properties and the Workplace Charging Scheme for commercial properties.

Stan Barlow, Director of Mr Electric Cornwall and South Devon, said that the OLEV-accreditation has had a positive effect on business and urged customers to take advantage of the grants. Mr Barlow commented, “These grants aren’t going to last forever, so it is important that we get this message out to ensure [everyone] benefits from this offer from the Government. We hope to ensure that our hotel and holiday businesses grab the available financial incentive opportunities.” He also explained that Mr Electric is adding electric vehicles to its fleet for use on small service jobs and emergency call outs.

Pierre Jeannes, VP of Operations for Mr Electric, said that electric vehicles are growing in popularity as customers look to reduce their fuel bills, stating that there are now around 137,000 electric vehicles on the road. He celebrated this “lucrative new business opportunity” for Mr Electric franchisees and added “We also have a corporate social responsibility towards the environment, and we fully support the growing demand for sustainable green transport technology and aim to be at the forefront of this sector. Electric vehicles need charging stations and this where we can help!”
