Molly Maid franchise opens its new premises to celebrate 25 years of expansion
A branch of domestic cleaning franchise Molly Maid celebrated its 25th anniversary in style by officially opening its new office. Molly Maid’s Liberty, Ohio franchise is owned by Katie Burkey and after years of growth and expansion, she took the plunge and decided to move her business to bigger premises.
The celebration was attended by employees, local government officials and customers and they witnessed the grand ribbon-cutting that declared the building officially open for business. Since the branch was opened by Burkey’s stepmom in 1993, its grown steadily and after Burkey took the reigns in 2005, things really began to take off.
Now, with double the amount of office space, Burkey hopes she can continue to grow her successful business, which is on track to reach more than $1 million in sales before the end of the year. She explained why the move was vital to the success of her Molly Maid franchise.
“We were completely maxed out for space,” she said. “We were at our previous location for 10 years and as we continued to grow we wanted to make sure we had enough space for my team to grow, as well as car space as we have 15 vehicles.”
Burkey added that she was looking to expand her team of 27 as demand for domestic cleaning services are incredibly high in the area.
“We’re always looking to hire. Right now we’re at a deficit of staff and have more cleaning to do than employees.”
Office manager Catherine Anderson also spoke about the franchise’s fundraising efforts for the Ms. Molly Foundation, which supports victims of domestic violence. Since 1996, it has been raising money for the worthy cause, choosing to hold a basket raffle at this year’s charity bowl-a-thon event. Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, the Molly Maid branch hopes to have between 50 and 60 baskets containing exciting prizes such as tickets to local attractions like zoos, autographed sports memorabilia and gift cards to local restaurants.
It hopes to raise $10,000 to send to local domestic violence shelters, as Burkey explained they hope to beat last year’s total of $7,000.
“Every year we keep trying to do more and more to expand that total,” Burkey said. “We give back to our community and it’s really our community who helps us put this event on.”
