Minuteman Press franchisees explain how they’ve coped through Covid-19

Minuteman Press franchisees from Peoria, Arizona, have described their journey through the Covid-19 crisis.

Tim Earick and Jim McPhetres have run their Minuteman Press franchise unit for several years. Tim’s extensive industry experience and Jim’s background as a military veteran have helped the pair carve out a successful career in the printing sector.

When the Covid-19 pandemic struck, they were thankful to be able to continue working as an essential business. Luckily, they’d already established various different income streams.

“Printing is essential, but it is also flexible,” Tim explained, “So we diversified years ago with services like customised vehicle car wraps, wide format printing and creative design.”

Thanks to the franchisees’ early action, they were able to generate a healthy income providing vehicle wrap services. Tim described working for a client who wanted wraps across his three companies in security, solar energy and pest control.

“We prepared the design, produced it and wrapped 80 cars for this client. His businesses became stronger during Covid-19. He needed fast service, and we were there for him.”

The printing franchise unit owners also found work through the Chamber of Commerce, as Jim was on the board of directors. They wrapped two vans for census data collection. Tim said,

“There was one day back in March when I gave my staff the day off, and I remained at the centre. Emails and calls were slow and… I left at 12 noon, had email and calls forwarded to my cell phone and did not know what to expect.

“That evening was when the city called me to do the first census van, and honestly, our entire business has been non-stop since then.”
