Metro Rod and Metro Plumb Cambridge goes up for sale

Metro Rod and Metro Plumb have put their Cambridge branch on the market, in an exciting opportunity for local entrepreneurs.
The drainage and plumbing franchise business has been up and running for a quarter of a century, as the current owner bought it in 1995. Now, having developed the branch into a thriving local business, they’re planning to sell it on and retire. It’s on the market for £350,000 plus the value of its assets.
The new owner would take on the unit’s workforce of six drainage engineers and four office staff along with a selection of high-quality vehicles and equipment, including a 3,000-gallon jetvac, a transit tipper, a lining trailer and nine vans.
The current franchise is located in the cathedral city of Ely, central to the franchises territory and its customer base. At the moment, around 80 percent of the business’s sales come from the franchise’s national accounts, while 20 percent are from local companies. The unit has developed a large customer base of both recognisable brands and local commercial relationships across the maintenance, hospitality, retail and commercial sectors.
The business achieves an impressive annual turnover of £750,000, and prospective buyers can access the full accounts from the franchisor. In fact, the branch has the potential to become a flagship Metro Rod and Metro Plumb franchise unit. It’s a fantastic opportunity for aspirational investors to join a thriving brand and build on the hard work completed by the current owner.
Since 1983, Metro Rod has been providing expert drainage services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The brand is currently represented by a network of around 45 franchisees covering the entirety of the UK. Find out more on its profile page.
