Metro Rod advertises resale opportunity

Metro Rod is looking for a new franchisee to take on its Aberdeen, Dundee, Perth and North Scotland branch.
The current owner has developed the drainage franchise unit into a successful business, leading it to achieve the second highest growth rate in the company last year. Now, it has an annual turnover of more than £508,000 and is on the market for £250,000 including assets.
The owner of the unit bought it in 2017, but is now hoping to retire and pursue a dream of moving abroad.
The new franchisee can expect to work with clients across a wide range of different commercial sectors, including wholesale, retail, hospitality and food, as well as residential homeowners. At the moment, 80 percent of the unit’s sales come from the franchise’s national accounts, while 17 percent are from business clients and 3 percent are domestic jobs.
The branch benefits from a workforce of five drainage engineers and two office employees, and a large territory with a population of 1.3 million people and 55,000 businesses. The buyer will take on the lease of a fully furnished office, but has the option to relocate across Scotland.
The franchise deal includes five reactive van packs, an 18-tonne gully combi vac tanker and equipment to go with them, as well as drainage kit. Prospective franchisees can arrange to view and inspect the business’s assets when enquiring about the opportunity. You can also ask to review the business’s accounts to confirm its financial health.
Metro Rod’s franchisees are part of a growing business offering drain clearance and maintenance services across the UK. The company was established in 1983 and now has a network of over 40 franchisees. In 2017, the business was acquired by Franchise Brands plc - a combined group of more than 450 investors across 12 countries.
