Merry Maids expert has been sharing her top tips for a clean and tidy home – that stays that way.
Merry Maids has revealed its secrets to achieving a clean and organised home, even without the help of one of its expert cleaners. Home cleaning expert for the franchise, Debra Johnson, explained how she keeps her own home spick and span and breaks down how everyone can take steps towards making their own living space clean once more.
Johnson’s first recommendation is to come armed with all of the right tools if you’ve any hope of winning the battle. She advises that organising the essentials into a caddy will make them easier to locate and move your supplies around the house, and she suggests including items such as all-purpose cleaner, latex gloves, rubbing alcohol, vinegar and microfiber cloths to keep things sparkling.
Secondly, the Merry Maids expert addresses what she calls ‘clutter catchers’. “An organized house has a way of appearing clean, even if it’s not. Having things simply contained is the first step in helping to make your home appear neat and tidy,” explains Johnson.
She advises using fabric storage bins to keep clutter stored away, so that it’s not thrown onto chairs or tables through a lack of space.
Johnson is full of wisdom on how to make a cluttered or messy house look better, from creating space for mail, keys and schedules to stop them looking out-of-place to the power of a well-placed rug.
Her final tip, and perhaps the hardest to follow, is to create a routine for cleaning and stick to it. Johnson advises creating a daily schedule that breaks tasks down into manageable chunks, so that it’s more realistic and easier to stick to. “Keep in mind, you can divide chores into nightly tasks so an entire day isn’t dedicated to weekly cleaning. Map out a plan of attack, formulate a checklist of tasks and knock them out one by one.”
